Ministry of Commerce October 31-according to the economic and commercial counsellor's office of the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh news, Bangladesh daily star reported that due to a nationwide strike in the transport industry, Chittagong port cargo has been suspended, aggravating container congestion in the port.The port of Chittagong normally handles about 3,200 containers a day, but has now been abandoned.No similar abandonment has occurred in the port in the past 10 years.The Chittagong chamber of commerce and industry said the current situation would seriously damage Bangladesh's imports and exports.

     Chittagong is the largest and busiest port in Bangladesh. It is also Bangladesh's trading gateway, handling about 92% of the country's import and export trade.Pressure on the port of Chittagong has always existed, and the pressure on the port for 7-8 days is also normal.However, due to the strike, Chittagong port for the first time in 10 years to abandon the port, can be seen the severity of its impact.All activities in and out of the port have been suspended!We would like to remind the cargo owners and freight forwarders to be prepared in advance for shipment to Chittagong port so as not to incur extra cost in case of delay of shipment.

　 Bangladeshi businesses have been hit hard by the strike, which has caused huge losses following a nationwide transportation strike.The most affected sector is factory production stoppages because workers are unable to join the workplace in time, said ShafiulIslamMohiuddin, president of the Bangladesh chamber of commerce and industry Federation (FBCCI).

    In addition, the transport of exportable goods from Dhaka to the port of Chittagong has been affected, as no truck has been allowed to carry goods in the past two days.
